Dedication & Thank Yous:
Lawrence is a family band.
Our band’s “family” consists of not just Lawrences, but also Askins, Beckers, Cohens, Karshes, Kohs, and Langers. This year, we lost one of our band parents.
This album is dedicated to Jonny’s mom, Carol Mastromauro, who passed away during the making of the album. Carol was a wonderfully kind, caring, smart and funny person, who dedicated her life to helping others with a career in social work.
She was also an avid supporter of the band from the very beginning, from hyping up our latest accomplishments to anyone who would listen to entertaining us with snacks and conversation on our late-night tour stops at her home (both hallmarks of a proud band mom).
Thankfully, her amazing traits and her spirit live on in her family, and especially in Jonny, who we all love more than words can describe. In fact, we recently learned that it was she who convinced Jonny to commit to joining the band full-time rather than pursuing any of his other many talents, and for that we are eternally grateful.
Jonny wrote this about his mother’s impact on his upbringing: “My mother has lovingly endured my loud guitar playing, drumming, and general music making in our house since I was 10 years old. Looking back, I realize just how rare and how essential it is to have a safe space like this in which to play and practice. I cannot begin to thank her enough for all her love and encouragement.”
In addition to Carol, here are some other people we’d like to thank:
Marc & Linda Lawrence, Linus Lawrence, Lee Lawrence, Goldie Nesenoff, Michael & Sheila Cohen, Bruce & Martha Karsh, Ed Koh, the Askins, the Beckers, the Langers, Zach, Sara, Alyssa, Joe, Ken, Jbeau, Jeremy, Jesse, Jeff, the entire Bellion family, Louis, Serm, Dex, the whole Beautiful Mind band, the folks at Flightless Bird Creative, Richie Cannata, Ben Bloomberg, Hugh Johnson, Cody, Matt Baluyot, Kraz, Rae, Marisa, Stacey Abrams, Anthony Fauci, all of the essential workers… and Klaus Teuber. We also want to acknowledge all those who were lost this year due to COVID-19, with a special shout-out and dedication for Adam Schlesinger, who was not only a close friend and mentor to the entire Lawrence family, but also one of the greatest songwriters of all-time. Lastly, we want to thank you. It’s been a while since we’ve been able to see you in person, but we’re so proud to share this music with you, and we can’t wait to celebrate it with you as soon as we can.
